Asian Tech Press (Nov 17) -- Meituan (3690.HK), a Chinese food delivery and e-commerce giant, is considering buying the Southeast Asian business of its German counterpart Delivery Hero SE, according to Bloomberg.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the report said Meituan has held talks with Delivery Hero about acquiring its Southeast Asian business, known as foodpanda, in an effort to move out of the domestic market.

However, it is still uncertain whether the two sides will be able to reach an agreement on the purchase, and there may be other bidders.

Delivery Hero confirmed in September that it was in talks to sell part of its Southeast Asian operations.

Meituan operates China's largest food delivery platform, while foodpanda currently serves customers in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos.
