Asian Tech Press (Jan 21) -- A pre-production version of the Cadillac Lyriq, an all-electric SUV, has been assembled and is expected to be delivered to customers in a few months, according to media reports, said Mark Reuss, president of General Motors.

GM, which was recently pushed out as the No. 1 U.S. automaker, competes with century-old rival Ford Motor Co. who will sell more electric cars by 2025. Reuss said the team worked tirelessly for the Lyriq, moving up the delivery schedule by nine months.

In August 2020, GM launched the Lyriq, an all-electric midsize SUV, Cadillac's first all-electric SUV, with orders topping 2,000 within one hour of pre-sale. It is equipped with Cadillac's full cockpit configuration.

Cadillac will launch the Lyriq, Symboliq, Celestiq, Escalade EV and a compact SUV by 2025.

In addition, it is reported that GM is considering investing more than $4 billion in two plants in Michigan to increase its electric vehicle production capacity.
