Binance Suspends GBP Withdrawals Again
Jul.14,2021

Binance has reportedly suspended its GBP withdrawal service again, as payment platform Faster Payments ended its partnership with Binance. Binance has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Binance is now subject to increasingly stringent regulation globally. In addition to the United Kingdom, Binance has ceased operations in Ontario after choosing not to register with the Ontario Securities Commission as a regulated crypto trading platform.

Japanese regulators said last month that Binance was operating illegally in Japan. And in April, Germany's financial regulator said Binance offered digital tokens without an investor prospectus and risked being fined. In addition, Binance is currently under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and the IRS for illegal activities.

In late June, Binance suspended its services in the U.K. after the FCA, the U.K.'s financial regulator, ordered Binance to cease all regulated activities related to derivatives and securities.

Binance issued a notice saying that the withdrawal operations of Faster Payments, a popular interbank payment platform in the U.K., had been suspended for maintenance. However, two days later, Binance resumed withdrawals and card purchases through Faster Payments.

Binance is one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, with subsidiaries around the world. As of May this year, Binance was leading the industry with a trading volume of approximately $2.46 trillion.
