Asia Tech Wire (Nov 5) -- TSMC finalized the completion ceremony for the first U.S. fab in Arizona in early December, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily News.

It took four years to build the plant, where the first batch of 4-nanometer wafers will be produced, and is TSMC's first overseas production of advanced processes.

The completion ceremony fell after this week's U.S. presidential election, because TSMC founder Morris Chang expects the management team to be well-prepared, the report said, citing sources.

TSMC's Arizona plant still adopts the mega fab design, and the first fab has been in trial production in September, adopting the 4-nanometer process, with Apple as the first customer.

The sources revealed that TSMC Arizona has set up a model diagram of the six fabs throughout the plant in the hall of its first fab. This means that in addition to the currently announced first to third fab, TSMC also retains planning for the expansion of the fourth to the sixth fab.
