Asian Tech Press (Mar. 3) -- TSMC said the massive power outages that occurred in Taiwan on Thursday did not affect its daily operations.
Taiwan experienced widespread unpredicted power outages around 9 a.m. Thursday. TSMC, the world's largest chipmaker, said some of its plants were affected by power dips, but not interrupting its daily operations.
As a result of the equipment failure of Taiwan's Hsing-ta Power Plant, the electric power system in the southern part of the island was disconnected, and a number of counties and cities, including Miaoli, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung, have reported power outages.
TSMC said that the actual impact of the power dips is being confirmed, but there is no power outage.
