Rohm's Malaysian semiconductor plant capacity to rise 1.5 times

Asian Tech Press (Dec 14) -- Japanese electronic parts manufacturer Rohm Semiconductor will expand the capacity of its semiconductor plant in Malaysia to 1.5 times.

Rohm will start work on the new plant in January 2022 and plans to complete it by August 2023.

The investment amount is 8.2 billion yen. Rohm will increase the production of "insulated gate drivers," which account for more than half of the global share. This is a large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) for driving power semiconductors and is expected to be in demand for automotive and industrial equipment.
