Asian Tech Press (Nov 29) -- Nissan Motor today announced its 2030 vision, with plans to invest 2 trillion yen over the next five years to accelerate the electrification of its vehicle lineup and other initiatives.

At the same time, Nissan also plans to launch electric vehicles with all-solid-state batteries in fiscal 2028 and reduce costs to $75/kWh.

Nissan said that by fiscal 2030, the company will launch 23 electric vehicles, including 15 all-electric models, and electrify more than 50 percent of its Nissan and Infiniti brands globally, with more than 40 percent of electric vehicles in China.

Nissan expects its global battery capacity to reach 52GWh by fiscal 2026. Nissan will also invest 20 billion yen by 2026 to develop vehicle charging pads.

Nissan launched the first generation of the Leaf series in 2010, the same "industry pioneer" of electric cars as the Tesla Roadster. However, at that time, Nissan judged that the electric vehicle range and charging equipment were not mature and gradually devoted resources to the hybrid route.
