Japan's Renesas Electronics Corp. said Tuesday that with the installation of the last batch of replacement equipment, a domestic chip factory damaged in a fire in March is expected to return to full capacity around mid-June.

Renesas, the world's third-largest automotive chip supplier, one of its 12-inch chip factories in Japan was fired due to an electrical fault in March.

The company said in a statement that as of the end of May, the capacity of the plant, located in Naka, eastern Japan, has been restored to about 88% of the pre-fire level.
