Previously it was reported that chipmaking giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) is also considering building a factory in Japan. The plant will be located near a Sony factory, and several Japanese manufacturers, including Sony, will participate in this TSMC plant.

The previous reports mentioned that TSMC's plant in Japan would be a joint venture with Sony, Toyota, and Mitsubishi Electric. The investment is up to 1.6 trillion yen, with TSMC holding 50% and the remaining 50% owned by Japanese companies.

The latest reports indicate that Japan's Denso Corporation is also considering participating in this TSMC project in Japan.

Denso is a Japanese auto parts maker that grew independently from a division within Toyota, which currently holds shares in Denso.
