GAC's EV unit Aion to expand to 70 dealerships in Thailand this year.

Asia Tech Wire (Sep 20) -- Aion, the electric vehicle unit of Chinese state-owned automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group, will expand to 70 dealerships in Thailand this year.

GAC Aion's Hyptec HT car went on sale in Thailand on Thursday.

The company introduced that it has built 50 dealerships in Thailand so far, with an eye on 70 within the year and 100 by 2025.

As for charging infrastructure, GAC Energy Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of GAC, has built eight charging stations in Thailand since its establishment in May.

The subsidiary aims to expand its network to 25 charging stations this year, and by 2027 it plans to have 200 superchargers with 1,000 piles in 100 cities across Thailand.
