BYD expects to sell 50,000 cars in Mexico this year, double sales next year

Asia Tech Wire (Oct 9) -- Chinese electric car maker BYD expects to sell 50,000 vehicles in Mexico this year and double its sales next year, according to Reuters.

BYD expects to sell 50,000 electric vehicles in Mexico this year and 100,000 by 2025, Jorge Vallejo, general manager of BYD Mexico, said on Tuesday.

Vallejo said BYD will announce the site for its first plant in Mexico by the end of this year.

The first phase of the plant will have the capacity to produce 150,000 electric vehicles per year, and then will expand to 300,000 vehicles per year.
