According to Reuters, a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, Pegatron decided to build a factory in El Paso, Texas, on the U.S.-Mexico border, serving American electric vehicle giant Tesla.
The new factory will be ready for mass production by the end of this year, producing center consoles, self-driving modules, electronic control units, and charging piles for Tesla.
In this regard, Pegatron said it’s currently under planning about the location, time, and amount involved in the overseas factory and other related details. And if there is a definite plan, it will be reviewed and announced in accordance with the relevant government regulations.
Pegatron produces various automotive components, including wireless communication modules, ECUs (electronic control units), car panels, wire harnesses, structural parts, voltage transformers, and charging piles.
The company has become a provider of ECUs and home charging pads for Tesla and is also a supplier of in-car panels for Audi and Toyota. In addition, the company is an important partner of Apple, helping to assemble iPhones and iPads.
