Asian Tech Press (Oct 17) -- Apple Inc. has suspended plans to use chips from China's IDM memory company Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp. (YMTC).
Apple has temporarily not considered using chips from Chinese chipmaker Yangtze Memory in its products, the Nikkei reported Monday.
Reports last month showed that Apple had included Yangtze Memory in its supply chain and the Chinese firm would supply NAND flash memory for the latest generation of iPhones, which prompted a high level of alarm in Washington.
The iPhone maker's decision came after the U.S. government imposed a new round of export controls on China's technology industry on Oct. 7, demonstrating a chilling effect of the new U.S. ban on the supply chain.
Founded in July 2016 in Wuhan, China, Yangtze Memory is an integrated device manufacturer (IDM) specializing in the design, production and sales of 3D NAND flash memory chips.
