Asian Tech Press (Sep 6) -- China's IDM memory company Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp. (YMTC) has entered Apple's supply chain and will supply NAND flash memory for the upcoming iPhone 14 series, sources said.
Chinese chipmaker Yangtze Memory has entered Apple Inc's supply chain and will supply NAND flash memory for the iPhone 14, sources said.
The NAND flash memory chips Apple currently needs are from Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and Kioxia Holdings Corp, while DRAM chips rely on supplies from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
Obviously, the iPhone maker's NAND flash memory chip supply is highly dependent on Korean memory chip makers.
Market watchers believe that Apple's cooperation with Yangtze Memory will further diversify its NAND flash memory suppliers and also help reduce the price of the important component.
In March this year, news broke that Apple was considering choosing China's Yangtze Memory as its NAND flash memory supplier.
Founded in July 2016 in Wuhan, China, Yangtze Memory is an integrated device manufacturer (IDM) specializing in the design, production and sales of 3D NAND flash memory chips.
