U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said in a speech Sunday in Phoenix, the capital of Arizona, that he favors TikTok continuing to operate in the U.S. for some time.
It was one of Trump's strongest signals yet against TikTok's exit from the U.S. market.
Trump said videos he posted on TikTok during his presidential campaign received billions of views.
Under a U.S. legislation, TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, must complete its divestment of TikTok by Jan. 19, 2025, or the short-form video app, which has about 170 million U.S. users, will face a total ban.
On Dec. 18, the U.S. Supreme Court announced another discussion on a bill to ban TikTok from operating in the U.S.
It was previously reported that the U.S. Supreme Court would argue the case on Jan. 10, allowing the court to rule on the issue before the law goes into effect on Jan. 19th.
