U.S. President Donald Trump told a meeting of governors that Apple CEO Tim Cook promised him this week to move manufacturing from Mexico to the United States. Trump said Friday that Cook "closed two factories in Mexico" and would make products in the United States, and the company also promised to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in the United States. "They don't want to be caught up in the tariffs," Trump said. It was not clear which manufacturing facilities Trump was referring to, but Foxconn, which produces iPhones, has a large manufacturing base in Mexico and plans to expand its operations there. A representative for Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
