TrendForce: The earthquake did not cause significant damage to Tainan's wafer factories, but it may exacerbate the tight supply of TV panels in Q1

According to TrendForce's survey on the impact of the earthquake in Chiayi, Taiwan on the neighboring wafer foundries and panel factories on Tuesday, TSMC and UMC's Tainan factories had evacuated personnel and shut down for inspection at the time, and no machines suffered major damage, only the furnace tube machines inevitably produced fragments.

And in terms of the panel industry, Tainan is the headquarters of the display giant Innolux. Its factories in Tainan are Fab2, Fab3, Fab5, Fab6, and Fab7, and the nearby Kaohsiung factories are Fab8, Fab8b, and T6.

Due to the long history of the factories and the large magnitude of the earthquake, some machines in Innolux's Tainan factories were shut down, and the damage is still to be confirmed.

However, it is estimated that the earthquake will put some pressure on the supply of TV panels, which was already slightly tight in the first quarter of 2025.
