Airbus announced today that the second final assembly line for the A320 Family aircraft at its Tianjin assembly plant has officially opened. Preparations for the first aircraft are underway, and the new facility is expected to be fully operational in early 2026. This advanced production line incorporates Airbus' latest technologies and processes, producing aircraft to the company's highest global standards. Furthermore, the new facility utilizes renewable electricity, recycled water, and geothermal energy to support its sustainability roadmap and reduce its environmental footprint. With the addition of this new line, Airbus expects to double its production capacity in China and establish a global network of 10 final assembly lines: four in Hamburg, Germany; two in Toulouse, France; two in Mobile, USA; and two in Tianjin, China. Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury stated that the addition of this second line to Airbus' global production system will provide the company with the necessary flexibility and capacity to achieve its target of producing 75 A320 Family aircraft per month by 2027. The Airbus Tianjin Final Assembly Line, which opened in 2008, is Airbus' first commercial aircraft production line outside of Europe. To date, the facility has assembled and delivered over 780 A320 family aircraft, becoming a successful example of Sino-European cooperation. The expansion of the Tianjin industrial facility demonstrates Airbus' confidence in the booming Chinese aviation market and the resilience and stability of China's supply chain.
