TSMC Chairman C.C. Wei said on Thursday that all semiconductor companies outside China are its customers.

TSMC held a corporate briefing on Thursday and disclosed that its revenue for the fourth quarter of 2024 was about NT$868.46 billion (US$26.88 billion), up 38.8% year-on-year and 14.3% quarter-on-quarter.

TSMC CFO Wendell Huang said the fourth-quarter results benefited from strong demand for the company's 3-nanometer and 5-nanometer technologies.

He expects TSMC's Q1 2025 results to be impacted by smartphone seasonality, "but this impact will be partially offset by continued growth in AI-related demand."

TSMC expects revenue for the quarter to be between $25 billion and $25.8 billion, and capital expenditures for 2025 to be between $38 billion and $42 billion.

Wei said after the briefing that TSMC is communicating with the U.S. government and helping customers apply for licenses in response to U.S. export controls on AI chips.

He said, "The impact of this is very small, because there is not much AI on the side of Chinese customers."

And on whether he will work with arch-rival Samsung, he hinted, "All semiconductor companies outside mainland China are our customers."
