OpenAI is looking for future data center sites in the Asia-Pacific region, joining the already fierce competition for artificial intelligence infrastructure construction in the region. Prior to this, OpenAI had just reached a cooperation agreement with the UAE to assist the latter in developing a large data center project in Abu Dhabi. The Asia-Pacific region is the region with the most data centers in the world, and Alphabet, Microsoft and Meta all have expansion plans. OpenAI Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon will visit the region to meet with government officials and potential private sector partners to discuss AI infrastructure construction and OpenAI software applications. A person familiar with the matter revealed that Kwon is scheduled to visit countries such as Japan, South Korea, Australia, India and Singapore starting next week.
