Eric Bach, chief engineer of U.S. electric car maker Lucid Motors, revealed in a recent interview that the company is learning from Chinese electric car makers to be more competitive.
Bach noted that Chinese cars are leading the way in digital technology, thanks to a rapid pace of research and development, a positive work ethic and government subsidy policies.
To delve deeper into the craftsmanship and digital capabilities of Chinese vehicles, Lucid ordered a Xiaomi SU7 in addition to owning a Nio as well as a Zeekr car.
In addition, David Lickfold, head of Lucid's vehicle dynamics team, said the company is working on a new model, the Gravity SUV, which will feature a large curved display and a new infotainment system to improve on the shortcomings of its previous software system.
According to Bach, Chinese companies have invested heavily in programming with rich outputs, and Lucid needs to make more efforts in this area in order to upgrade its technology quickly and innovatively.
He also mentioned that the driving experience and performance of Chinese cars needs to be improved, and Lucid is committed to achieving a perfect blend of all aspects to stay ahead of the industry.
