In the case of a multi-party accident in a smart parking scenario, does BYD only cover the car owner? BYD's response
BYD announced on July 9 that it was the first in the world to achieve smart parking comparable to L4 level. On July 10, BYD Auto answered questions from netizens about the rights and interests of smart parking comparable to L4 level. Some netizens asked: When a multi-party accident occurs in the smart parking scenario, does BYD only cover the car owner? Or does it include other third-party vehicles or facilities, etc.? In this regard, BYD Auto stated that the traffic management department of the public security agency needs to determine the responsible party and divide the responsibilities. If it is determined that our vehicle is responsible (the accident caused by the abnormality of the smart parking assistance system or the algorithm error, the maintenance costs and third-party property losses that should be borne by this vehicle according to law), BYD shall bear the corresponding maintenance or loss costs; if it is determined that it is the responsibility of the third-party vehicle, the other party’s owner or the other party’s insurance company shall compensate.
