European semiconductor giants are increasing their cooperation with Chinese wafer fabs at a time of ongoing U.S. chip export controls on China.
In mid-December, Infineon Technologies CEO Jochen Hanebeck said that Infineon intends to produce chips in Chinese fabs.
And in early December, NXP Executive Vice President Andy Micallef revealed that the company is looking to expand its supply chain in China.
In November, STMicroelectronics also announced a partnership with Hua Hong Semiconductor's manufacturing subsidiary.
Analysts believe that behind these frequent collaborations are companies' considerations of cost and market, and this trend is expected to continue.
