CATL: New sodium battery has passed the new national standard certification
CATL stated on its interactive platform on September 15th that sodium-ion batteries, while having slightly lower energy density than lithium-ion batteries, offer advantages in low-temperature performance, carbon footprint, and safety. These advantages will help the battery industry effectively reduce its reliance on lithium resources. The company launched its new sodium-ion battery in April. Its passenger vehicle power battery boasts excellent low-temperature energy retention and safety performance. In early September, the company's new sodium-ion battery received certification under the new national standard, becoming the world's first sodium-ion battery to do so. Currently, the company is working with customers on the development and implementation of its new sodium-ion battery for passenger vehicles, with smooth progress.
