On July 8, local time, the airport in Bergamo, Italy, temporarily stopped flights due to a runway accident. The Bergamo-Milan Airport Authority said that due to problems on the taxiway, all flights at Bergamo Orio Al Serio Airport were suspended from 10:20 to 12:00 that day. Local media reported that unnamed airport officials said someone ran onto the apron during a plane's takeoff and was sucked into the engine. The plane was an Airbus A319 of Volotea Airlines, which was preparing to fly to Asturias, Spain. Relevant investigations are underway.
