Airbus said its mid-size widebody Airbus A330neo aircraft recently received a type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
The CAAC confirmed that the design of the Airbus A330neo aircraft complies with the relevant provisions of China's civil aviation regulationsa and endorsed the A330neo type certificate issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Achieving airworthiness certification is an important milestone for the future operation of this Airbus aircraft in the Chinese market.
Chinese airlines currently operate about 200 A330ceo aircraft. With the retirement of some A330ceo aircraft approaching, the A330neo is seen as a better replacement.
The A330neo reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 25% compared to the previous generation of competing aircraft.
