AI startup Perplexity saw 780 million searches in May, up 20% month-on-month
Aravind Srinivas, CEO of artificial intelligence startup Perplexity, said that the company's AI search engine is growing at an astonishing rate, with 780 million searches in May, a 20% increase from the previous month. If the growth continues, Perplexity will process 1 billion queries per week within a year. In comparison, when Perplexity was first established in 2022, the number of queries per day was only 3,000, but now it has soared to 30 million queries per day. Srinivas revealed at a technology summit that the Comet browser being developed by Perplexity is positioned as an important engine for the company's growth. Srinivas said that many Internet users are tired of old browsers such as Google Chrome. He also criticized Google's AI assistant as "a bad product" and accused the tech giant of launching the same AI features year after year without actually making them available to users.
