Asian Tech Press (Nov 01) -- Microsoft has announced that it has acquired Two Hat, a content auditing solution provider, to help keep harmful content out of the Xbox, according to TheVerge.
Founded nearly ten years ago by former Disney Interactive security experts, Two Hat uses artificial intelligence to classify and filter billions of human interactions such as messages, images, usernames and videos. Microsoft has been working with Two Hat for the past few years to improve its Xbox community, but the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Over the past few years, Microsoft and Two Hat have worked together to implement proactive auditing technology in both in-game and non-game experiences to detect and remove harmful content before it reaches our community members, stated Dave McCarthy, director of Xbox Product Services. He said that two Hat's technology has helped make the global community in Xbox, Minecraft and MSN safer for users.
Recently, Microsoft has been trying to acquire popular communities, including TikTok, Pinterest and Discord. CEO Satya Nadella said he was interested in Microsoft's focus on creators and communities, and that auditing plays a vital role in any online community-based service.
