According to Korean media, Chinese optics manufacturing company Ofilm has been eliminated from Samsung Electronics’s supply chain after Apple.
Last year, Ofilm's cooperation with Apple was interrupted because it was added to the entity list for Uyghur human rights violations by the United States. After the elimination of Ofilm by Samsung, the South Korean suppliers have one less competitor.
South Korean media TheLec reported on April 22 that Ofilm was eliminated from Samsung's camera module supply chain at the end of February. In July last year, the U.S. Department of Commerce put Ofilm on the list of entities for human rights issues, and Samsung Electronics also kicked the company out of the supply chain.
A person related to the industry explained, "As a multinational company, Samsung Electronics treats the US-blacklisted supplier as a burden."
Another related person said, "In addition to being kicked out of the list of Samsung's cell phone camera module development, bidding, etc., Ofilm will also be suspended from the production of old projects."
Some predicted that Ofilm, which lost two major customers, Apple and Samsung Electronics, could only capture its domestic market, that is, the Chinese market.
