Asia Tech Wire (July 26) -- Toyota Motor plans to build an EV battery plant in Fukuoka, the largest prefecture on Japan's third-largest island, Kyushu, according to Nikkei.

The company aims to position Kyushu, which has a number of automotive and semiconductor factories, as a central part of its EV supply chain and an export base to Asia.

Toyota's battery company Primearth EV Energy will operate the plant, which looks to receive subsidies from the Japanese government, the report said.
