Asia Tech Wire (July 8) -- Taiwan-based touch display maker GIS is expected to supply ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint recognition technology for the Google Pixel 9, according to the Economic Daily News.

Google's next-generation flagship Pixel 9 series is due to debut to the public in mid-August.

Sources pointed out that the new device will likely feature ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint recognition technology for the first time, replacing the original optical fingerprint recognition on the back of the body.

And Taiwanese touch display maker GIS-KY is expected to break into the supply chain because it has been plowing the technology for a long time.

The Google Pixel 9 will use Qualcomm's 3D Sonic Gen 2, the same component as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Qualcomm and GIS are long-term partners, with the former responsible for providing ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint recognition sensors and software algorithms, and the latter responsible for supplying under-screen fingerprint recognition modules.
