Asia Tech Wire (June 7) -- Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp. will stop production in Thailand to focus on the transition to electric vehicles.

Suzuki said Friday it will stop producing cars and trucks in Thailand by the end of 2025, and will pool its resources to produce electric and hybrid vehicles in other regions.

However, Suzuki plans to continue sales and after-sales services in Thailand by importing vehicles from other factories in the ASEAN region, Japan and India.

The Japanese automaker said it has been considering optimizing its global production bases within the group amid a global push for carbon neutrality and electrification.
