Suzuki, Toyota to deepen EV cooperation

Asia Tech Wire (Oct 30) -- Japanese automakers Suzuki Motor and Toyota Motor announced on Wednesday that they will deepen their cooperation in the field of electric vehicles.

As part of the effort to further strengthen the cooperation, Suzuki will supply Toyota with a pure electric SUV developed by it.

This will also be Suzuki's first battery electric vehicle (BEV) in its OEM (original equipment manufacturer) partnership with Toyota.

The new model, which utilizes a BEV unit and platform jointly developed by Suzuki, Toyota and Daihatsu Motor, will undergo production at Suzuki's automotive plant in Gujarat, India, starting in the spring of 2025.
