Asia Tech Wire (June 4) -- Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games wants to forge closer ties with Japanese game developers like Nintendo.

The Savvy Games Group (SGG), the games and esports subsidiary of Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund Public Investment Fund (PIF), is looking to forge closer ties with Japanese game developers such as Nintendo and Capcom to open the way for game localization in the Middle East, according to Nikkei.

Savvy Games hopes to establish an industry hub in Saudi Arabia that will serve as a center for the localization of foreign games, as well as hire and train young Saudi engineers to develop the local gaming industry, the report said.

Established in 2021, Savvy Games carries the ambition to make Saudi Arabia a hub in the gaming sector.
