Samsung Electronics to fight Chinese rivals with tri-fold smartphone

Asian Tech Press (Dec 29) -- South Korea's Samsung Electronics reportedly intends to launch a tri-fold smartphone as its Chinese rivals make progress in foldable phones.

As revealed by a very detailed patent discovered by online news platform LetsGoDigital, Samsung Electronics is mulling over a tri-fold smartphone, a double folding phone with two hinges and three display parts.

To fold into a Z-shape, Samsung is also equipping the concept device with two different types of hinges for in-folding and out-folding.
