Asia Tech Wire (Sep 11) -- Samsung Electronics has bagged another foundry order for its advanced 2nm process to produce advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) chips for U.S. fabless semiconductor design company, according to THE ELEC.

Wednesday's report, citing people familiar with the matter, said Samsung recently won a foundry order from Ambarella, and the relevant products are due to enter the taped-out process in 2025 and mass production in 2026.

According to Samsung's 2nm roadmap announced in June, the first-generation SF2 process will go into mass production in 2025, while the SF2A mass-production for automotive environments will take place in 2027.

If the market rumors are true, it means that Samsung has accelerated the pace of its 2nm chip manufacturing technology.

In early July, Samsung announced that it would partner with Japanese AI startup Preferred Networks, to manufacture AI chips for the latter based on the 2nm process and 2.5D packaging technology Interposer-Cube S (I-Cube S).

And Samsung and Ambarella have previously embarked on foundry collaborations. The two companies announced in February 2023 that they will use Samsung's 5nm process to build Ambarella's CV3-AD685 automotive AI central domain controller.
