Asia Tech Wire (May 24) -- South Korea's Samsung Electronics has denied reports that tests to supply HBM chips have failed.

Earlier Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that Samsung Electronics' latest high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips had not passed Nvidia's tests for use in the latter's artificial intelligence processors due to heat and power consumption issues.

The report said the issues involved Samsung Electronics' HBM and HBM3E chips.

In response, the company said in a statement on Friday that "Samsung Electronics is proceeding smoothly with the test of the HBM chips with various global clients."

"We are running various tests to strictly verify the quality and performance of the HBM chips," Samsung Electronics added.
