National Business Wire (Dec 20) -- Panasonic Energy, a subsidiary of Japan's Panasonic Holdings, said Wednesday that Oklahoma is no longer a candidate for the company's new U.S. electric vehicle battery plant.

In April, Panasonic Energy, which supplies batteries to Tesla, said it was considering building a plant in Oklahoma.

Panasonic Energy said in a statement, "After careful deliberations, we have made the decision not to move forward with developing the site."

"This decision will not impact our operations in Nevada or Kansas," it added.

The company also said it has made "a long-term commitment to investing in and advancing the EV industry in the U.S."
