Panasonic said to supply EV batteries to Subaru, Mazda

Asia Tech Wire (Aug 20) -- Panasonic will supply electric car batteries to Subaru and Mazda, according to Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun.

Its report cites a person familiar with the matter as saying that Panasonic is finalizing arrangements to supply electric car batteries to Subaru and Mazda.

Panasonic plans to add battery production and packaging lines for Subaru in Japan's Gunma prefecture.

The company also plans to use batteries produced in Osaka for Mazda and add packaging lines in Hiroshima and Yamaguchi prefectures.

Panasonic is considering utilizing unused space at the automakers' factories, the report said.
