Nissan to invest $500 million to retool U.S. plant, ready for production of two new EVs in 2025

Asian Tech Press -- Japan's third-largest automaker Nissan Motor Co Ltd will invest $500 million to revamp its plant in the United States, ready for the production of two new electric vehicles here from 2025.

Nissan on Thursday unveiled details of the transformation of its U.S. assembly plant into an center for U.S. electric vehicle (EV) production .

The company said it is revamping its U.S. assembly plant near Canton, Mississippi, and that the investment for the transformation will be $500 million.

The Japanese car company said it expects to produce two all-new Nissan and Infiniti EV models at the plant starting in 2025.

It plans to launch 15 electric vehicles globally by 2030, while it is currently developing five all-electric platforms that all brands within the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance can be shared to use.
