Japan's Meidensha to increase production of motors for pure EVs in China

Meidensha Corporation, Japanese motor manufacturer, has announced that it will expand its plant for motors and related parts for pure electric vehicles (EVs) in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.

Meidensha will invest 4.8 billion yen (about $43.3 million) to build a new workshop in the factory, which was scheduled to start production in 2021.

It aims to increase annual production capacity of motor in China to 340,000 units, twice the original plan. This is to meet the growing demand for motors for pure electric vehicles in the Chinese market in the context of global decarbonization.
