Japan to boost solar panel installation
2021-07-06 13:00:00

The Japanese government stated that the country plans to have 108GW of solar power capacity by 2030, about 1.7 times the previous target and 20GW more than the current installation rate.

This year, Japan indicated that it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46 percent by 2030 compared with 2013, and the new target reinforces previous commitments under the Paris Agreement.

Japan is already leading the world in solar installations per square kilometer, and there is limited land available to add large-scale projects. This lead to the need to increase distributed solar power, which are small panels placed on top of buildings or farms.
