Asian Tech Press (Nov 1) -- Indonesia has approved China's Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine for use in children aged 6-11 years.

Indonesia's drug and food agency (BPOM) said on Monday that the country approved Coronavac, the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech Ltd (SVA: NASDAQ GS), for use in kids aged 6-11, Reuters reported.

Previously, Indonesia licensed the Sinovac vaccine for use in those aged 12 and above.

The approval was "pleasant news", said Penny K. Lukito, head of BPOM, at a press conference, according to the report.

Lukito said, "We're sure that children's vaccination is an urgent thing, especially now that…in-person learning has started."
