Asian Tech Press (Apr. 8) -- India's Tata Group on Thursday launched an e-commerce "super app" to challenge Walmart and Amazon.

Tata Neu, which has been in the works for over two years, is an "all-in-one" app for Tata brands, ranging from fashion to finance, gadgets to groceries, hotels to health, and tech to travel, and aims to bring about cross-category shopping experience for its customers.

The Indian conglomerate's launch of the super app means it will strive for a share of the Indian e-commerce market, which is dominated by Walmart and Amazon.

According to forecasts, the e-commerce market will reach a value of $200 billion in India by 2026.

Although Tata group launched Tata Cliq online marketplace in 2016, it failed to take a significant position in the market and was once undermined by Walmart's Flipkart and Amazon.
