Asia Tech Wire (June 13) -- Huawei has won a case against a merchant on Chinese e-commerce platform Taobao for infringing on its trademark rights, receiving 51,000 yuan in damages.

Recently, the Yuhang District People's Court of Hangzhou, delivered the judgment of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd and two defendants, Taobao merchant surnamed Huang and Taobao operator Zhejiang Taobao Network Co.,Ltd in the case of trademark infringement.

The judgment shows that the court ruled that Huang compensate Huawei 51,000 yuan of economic losses.

In March this year, the court served litigation materials to Huang, in which Huawei requested the court to order Huang to stop infringing on the exclusive right to use its registered trademark and compensate for 150,000 yuan in damages.

The lawsuit is not Huawei's first action on trademark disputes.

In January, a court in Shanghai ruled that two companies successively operating an online store on the e-commerce platform Tmall had infringed on Huawei's exclusive right to use its registered trademark, and ordered them to pay Huawei 10 million yuan in economic damages.
