Asian Tech Press (Jan 6) -- Huawei Technologies Co. said in an interview on Wednesday that the Seres SF5 electric vehicle has not stopped production and sales in response to the discontinuation fiasco.
Huawei also said that reservations for the car have resumed in the official app of Seres.
A few days ago, a large number of Seres SF5 buyers spoke out through multiple channels, questioning whether the new model had not yet arrived or would face discontinued production.
And they revealed that a large number of Seres stores are being redecorated, and the logos of many stores have been replaced with ones of AITO, Seres' new high-end smart car brand.
Seres said it would continue to accept orders from customers and arrange for dedicated staff to assist in delivery, and issued an unsatisfactory courtesy policy.
However, official sales staff replied, "The Seres SF5 will not accept orders for the time being, we suggest to give priority to the AITO Wenjie M5, because the production line of the factory is now in full supply for the AITO model."
Sources close to Huawei revealed that the Seres SF5 did not stop production and sales, but only suspended reservations. Because the amount of delivery before the Spring Festival has been all sold out, no short-term supply of vehicles.
California-based Seres is a new energy vehicle brand of Chongqing Sokon Industry Group. The Seres SF5, jointly developed by Huawei and Sokon, was officially unveiled at the Auto Shanghai on April 19, 2021, and was sold in Huawei's online and offline channels at the same time.
And AITO Wenjie M5, the first mass-produced model with the latest HarmonyOS-powered Smart Cockpit, was unveiled at the HUAWEI Flagship Product Launch on Thursday. It is a high-end new energy vehicle created by Seres together with Huawei.
