Asia Tech Wire (July 3) -- Japanese battery maker GS Yuasa plans to increase the production of batteries for Mitsubishi Motors by about 30% during 2024, according to Nikkei.

For this plan, GS Yuasa will invest billions of yen in its plant in Shiga Prefecture, western Japan.

The plant produces batteries for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross plug-in hybrid and the Mitsubishi Minicab electric vehicle.

Benefiting from the steady growth of Mitsubishi Motors' PHV business, this is the first formal increase in production since the plant opened in 2012, the report said.
