Paris - France

Asian Tech Press (Nov 26) -- According to media reports, France will begin testing electric air cabs at an air hub outside Paris in the coming months, aiming to create two dedicated routes to transport passengers in time for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

One route will connect Paris Charles de Gaulle and Le Bourget airports and the other road will connect two suburbs southwest of the French capital Paris, the airport said in a statement on Thursday local time.

Aircraft developers involved in the project with the French Civil Aviation Authority include German aircraft manufacturer Volocopter GmbH, Airbus, British Vertical Aerospace Group Ltd, German electric airline Lilium NV and U.S. startup Joby Aviation.

Electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, or eVTOL, are fast becoming a new transportation market. Competing with Lilium for orders are UK-based Vertical Aerospace and German Volocopter.
