Asian Tech Press (Feb 22) -- Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker XPeng Inc. (NYSE: XPEV) has apologized for the delayed delivery of some P5 cars.
It was reported that in recent times, a number of Chinese consumers who have purchased the Xpeng P5 460 series said they had faced delays in delivery due to battery supply issues.
XPeng said in response, "Due to COVID-19, the industry is facing extreme tension in the supply of key components including lithium iron phosphate batteries, which has caused great uncertainty in the production of the XPeng P5 460 models, resulting in orders for 460 series not being delivered in a timely manner within the expected delivery cycle as scheduled."
The company revealed that at present, it has contacted customers to complete the procedure of reallocation or refund of orders according to its latest scheduling plan.
As to when the delivery of new vehicles will be back on track, the Chineses EV maker said it will step up information communication with the supply chain at all levels and do its best to reduce the waiting time for customers.
It also apologized for the inconvenience caused to customers by the delayed delivery of the P5 460 electric sedans.
The XPeng P5 cars on sale have reached 10 models, for which the vendors supplying automotive batteries include CATL, China Aviation Lithium Battery Co., Ltd. (CALB), and Eve Energy Co. Ltd.
