A spokesperson for Daimler said on Tuesday that Daimler's India plant has shut down its bus and truckmaking units for three days because of parts shortages caused by lockdown restrictions across the country.

The plant is the first to be ordered temporarily shut down near India's Chennai auto manufacturing center because of parts shortages.

Ford, Hyundai and Renault-Nissan, and other global automakers ordered closures last week due to worker protests over safety issues. (Sina Finance)
